Did you know that many of our “traditional hymns” written by John and Charles Wesley, weren’t so “traditional” in their day. They actually took the tunes of bar tunes (don’t believe us… check the instructions for singing in the front of your hymnals!) and changed the words to become Christian hymns. In other words, the notes were familiar and the words were new. John and Charles used “pop culture” of their day to promote sacred singing. Well, there’s a modern variation on such a practice, and Apologetix does it. They call themselves a parody band, we’d say they’re old fashioned Methodists!
